Summer Media Institute (SMI)
On the forefront of the media explosion that is taking place in the
Body of Christ world wide is Ezekiel 12 ministries. The founders Bob
Maddux and Mark Williams have a unique vision to not only network with
other ministries but to train and raise up men and women to use there
talents for Christ.
Among the first steps they are taking
to see this vision become a reality is the Ezekiel 12 Summer Media
Institute "SMI". The SMI is a very innovative three week program.
During the "SMI" they will produce a 28-minute film "Spirit Kids".
They are bringing professional director Howard Flaherty as well as a
professional cinematographer and gaffer.
The professionals will use the SMI
interns for the crew and will teach them first hand about
pre-production and production. The hands-on approach makes learning a
reality and impacts the interns with much more than a lecture or a
how-to session.
The intense schedule is grueling and
co-founder Rev Mark Williams describes it as "Boot Camp".
The SMI overlaps another Ezekiel 12
production, the Movie Camp. The Movie Camp is for ages eight and up
and is more of a acting school. It provides most of the cast for the
movie "Spirit Kids." Not only do the interns get hands-on experience
in the field, the third week is dedicated to post-production editing
and sound work.
The ministry has recently acquired a
full blown editing studio that is capable of many Hollywood type
effects. The SMI is firmly grounded and will have classes and lectures
on spiritual emphasis, such as the artist and his prayer life and
other classes. Co-founder Bob Maddux will teach biblical support for
media. The SMI is a pilot program for a full time institute of arts
and media. The response they have received is great and if you feel
up to the challenge you can contact them for an application.
